What determines the price of a 3D website?
The number and complexity of the scenes, the modeling of the objects, the interactions, and the optimization work for mobile and for search engines. That's why there's no standard price: each project is quoted according to its scope.
A technology that's increasingly accessible
- Monthly downloads of Three.js, one of the most widely used libraries for 3D on the web, went from about 10 million in August 2025 to more than 61 million in August 2026, according to public npm data.
- Since November 2025, WebGPU, the technology that gives direct access to the graphics card from the browser, works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
More accessible doesn't mean easier to do well: the difference comes from creative direction and optimization.
The factors that determine the price
- The scenes: how many there are, how much they move and how you go from one to another.
- The modeling: whether the objects already exist in 3D or have to be built from scratch, and at what level of detail.
- The interaction: from a movement that responds to scrolling to a product configurator.
- The site structure: the number of pages and content, and integrations such as an online store or a CMS.
- The optimization: fast loading on mobile, a static version, and text that's readable by search engines and AI assistants.
- Maintenance: content updates and later adjustments.
When a 3D website pays off
- When the experience is part of what the brand offers.
- When the product is better understood by exploring it than by seeing it in a photo.
- When the brand needs a memorable digital presence.
When it doesn't
- When the website has to be, above all, a fast catalog or a conversion page, and 3D would only add weight.
- When there's no room to optimize it properly: a slow scene takes away more than it adds.
In those cases, a well-designed website without a 3D scene, or with a single 3D element, is usually a better option.
